About
Knitiquea
My name is Michelle, and Knitiquea arose out of a need to give knitting more space.
Space for reflection and space to think through constructions.
I have always knitted. My mother taught me to knit when I was 6, and ever since then I have played with stitches, structures and repetitions – often by just trying things out. For me, knitting has always been a place of curiosity and exploration, where I could see what happened when I changed the rhythm, structure or shape.
Knitting has accompanied me through many periods in my life – but it took on a new meaning after becoming a mother. During a period of postpartum depression, I needed something that was quiet, repetitive and tangible. Something that could calm my hands when my thoughts were restless.
What started as a craft gradually became a way of being in the process. I discovered that I didn't just knit to get a finished result – but to be in the work. The repetitions, rhythm and structure provided a point of reference when much else felt unmanageable.
Over time, I began to miss patterns that gave me the same immersion and learning that I sought in knitting. Patterns where the technique was not just a means. Knitiquea became my answer to that need.
At Knitiquea I work with knitting as a conscious craft.
It's not about getting to the finish line quickly, but about understanding the process along the way. I design recipes that focus on technique, structure and color.
My patterns are created for knitters who already know the basics, but who want to delve deeper. For those of you who want to read your knitting, understand the technique behind the pattern, and experience how form emerges through rhythm and repetition.
Knitiquea is a place for contemplation.
A place where knitting is not just a project, but a space for curiosity, play and immersion in the craft.
For knitters who want more.
Knit Unique and Explore.
